So I went to the Chicago stop of The Hunger Games mall tour
It was about a 2 hour drive so we left around 930am and got there by noon. We accepted the fact that we werent going to meet them since we didnt have a wristband but it was just still cool to be there. There were already lines and small crowds forming but we had no desire to wait for 6 hours by the catty 14 year old girls so we bought some HG merch and grabbed lunch. By the time we made it back to the stage area there wasnt much of a difference in the crowd so we carried on our way. We made it a point to check back about every half hour or so if a mad rush came in, which there didnt seem to be. After shopping for a bit it was about 330 before we decided to take our spot in the crowd. Seriously…these girls are insane! We were about 5 people deep behind what was designated as the VIP section. The MC tried to keep the crowd entertained by playing and dancing along to music. The songs were fine but to imagine whats going through their heads…
Journey: Dont Stop Believin This one really gets to me being a huge Journey fan and all. Im sorry, but the only reason these little bitches know the song is because of Glee. Dont get me wrong I love Glee, but when its obvious that “omg this band is covering a song from Glee!” is going through their head. No…just no.
Nsync: Bye Bye Bye Excuse me…this song was from before you were born. Why are you screaming and pretending to know the moves? I mean, Im one to talk because all I really listen to is classic rock from before I was born but when you can tell “OMG OLD SKOOL!” is what theyre thinking…ugh…am I really that old?

They also played newer “kissFM” type music which is fine. Its just sad that this is all defined as music and its probably never going back mainstream. Thank god for bands that still play instruments. But for the first time ever…I actually felt old.
Anyway…
We made friends with an older mom(whos daughter was there) as we were making fun of the crowd, talking classicrealmusic, and at that point wishing there was booze in our water bottles. She was a riot. She pointed out a group of girls who actually had the balls to drive to Josh’s house and knock on his door! Are you fucking kidding me? I wanted to go punch them in the face just based on principle alone! They gave away random little prizes for trivia. The last question was to win a fucking HG themed laptop! And the question was “how many siblings does Gale have?” Are you fucking kidding me?! And “what HG actor was in the Oscar nominated movie American Beauty?” was to win a measly HG lunch box? Wow…just wow. The actors finally came out around 615 and ofcourse everybody screamed at the top of their lungs. The thing was…they wouldnt stop, even during the Q&A. By this time we were about 8 people deep and couldnt see a goddamn thing. People also wouldnt shutup so we could hear them talk either. Isnt that the point of a Q&A, to hear them? Thought so. There also was no screen so people in back could see and some of the girls thought it would be ok to put their friends on their shoulders. I had to use every bit of self control I had to not push them down. There was also no room to breathe; there was a girl behind me who was severelyviolating my personal bubble. I may need therepy. Luckily there was a girl on a step stool off to the side of me who was nice enough to let me step up for a minute to get a couple nice pictures.
I guess Ive just been so spoiled with going to the SPN cons where people actually respect the actors and everyone around them I forgot what it was like to go to events like these. We left before the panel was even done. It was pointless to stay til the end. Then on the way home to make ourselves feel better we stopped to get ourselves a large Jamba Juice :)
Im sorry for my rant but I just thought Id share my experience. And let me clarify, I LOVE the books and the actors, I am NOT in any way bashing them. This event was just poorly organized in my opinion. If youre planning on going to one of these events and dont have a wrist band and dont want to wait all freakin day, I suggest just staying home. They put the videos online with what I would assume to be a clear shot and better sound. I dont regret going. It was cool to be able to at least see the actors [from a distance]. Just, had I known it was going to be like this I wouldnt have wasted my time and a tank of gas.
So I downloaded a calorie counter app
which tracks your calorie intake per day. If I want to lose 15lbs at 1lb/week im only allowed 1380 calories/day and suppose to exercise for an hour 3x/week. Its really not too hard but Im a grazer and Im trying not to be while trying to eat healthier at the same time. Its hard because if I eat one crappy thing it burns out my calorie allotment for the day. I think Ill allow myself one cheat-day a week. That should be ok right? Hmm
I did not expect any of the things that just happened.

“Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or grassy (field) area and the person — woman — will be dragged into the woods, beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it’s a man, they’re usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too.
DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!! DIAL 9-1-1 AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON ‘T EVEN SLOW DOWN.Oh yea, about the EGGS:

Some knew about the red light on cars, but not Dialing 112.
It was about 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. An UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put his lights on. Lauren’s parents have always told her to never pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road,but rather to wait until they get to a gas station, etc.
Lauren had actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called,112 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked police car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars where she was andthere weren’t, and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back up already on the way.Ten minutes later 4 cop cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground. The man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.
I never knew about the 112 Cell Phone feature. I tried it on my AT&T phone & it said, “Dialing Emergency Number.”
Especially for a woman alone in a car, you should not pull over for an unmarked car. Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going on to a safe place.
